PABXSoft and 64 Bit operating systems

Background

PABXSoft is designed for 32 bit (x86) processors but it will run on 64 bit platforms (x64)
All Windows operating systems from XP onwards have provided the option for 64bit versions, although XP and Vista are most commonly 32 bit, Server 2003/2008 and Windows 7 are typically 64 bit.

As of Feb 2nd 2010 an installation of PABXSoft will check to see if the computer is a 32 bit or 64 bit processor, and install as per the current convention (e.g. to the Program Files directory for 32 bit and to Program Files (x86) directory if it is 64 bit.

In addition, when running the installation program on a 64 bit machine, we recommend that you right click the installation file and select 'Run as Administrator'. If using the Call Collector Windows Service (recommended) you will also need to right click the shortcut in Start>All Programs>PABXSoft>Call Collector Windows Service and select 'Run as Administrator' when you run it for the first time.

Troubleshooting

Call Collector and/or Call Collector Windows service not working?

Here are our recommended steps:

1. Open Task Manager and make sure you have no PABXSoft programs running (Applications tab - PABXsoft Reports, Call Collector, Processes Tab - psiccservice). The first troubleshooting step is to shut everything down.

2. Next start up the regular Call Collector (not Windows Service). Does the grey handset icon disappear after a few seconds? If so it is most likely a problem with an OCX file called MSFLXGRID. Click this link

3. Now try running regular Call Collector. If it works (icon does not disappear), terminate it and try Call Collector Windows Service and hopefully you will be working.

4. Assuming Call Collector works BUT CC Windows service does not, next try running CC Windows by going to Start>All Programs>PABXSoft and then RIGHT clicking Call Collector Service and selecting Run As Adminstrator.

5. Still no good? Browse to the PABXSoft folder in C:\Program files, right click it and go to Sharing. Make sure the folder has been allocated FULL read/write control for all users and administrators on all the tabs (e.g. security)

6. If none of the above work, then try the instructions below regarding DEP.

DEP (Data Execution Prevention)

DEP is a feature found on current Windows operating systems that is designed to stop programs from running unless you have allowed them to.

   Allowing PABXSoft to run

Go to Start, right click on Computer and finally click on Properties. Now in the System window click on Advanced    System Settings in the left sidebar as shown in the screenshot below

Now in the System Properties Windows, under Performance click Settings as shown in the screenshot below.

System properties

Finally in the Performance Options windows, navigate to Data Execution Prevention tab and select the second option “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:” as shown in the screenshot below

Now you have to ADD all the PABXSoft programs (and yes, sorry, there are quite a few)...

In the PABXSoft directory (typically C:\Program Files\PABXSoft, or C:\Program Files (x86)\PABXSoft if 64 bit machine) locate the Reports folder and add:

archive.exe
PABXSoft Reports.exe
psiFileAssociation.exe
Report Viewer.exe
Reports Scheduler.exe
restore.exe

Then navigate back to the PABXSoft folder, and open the Call Collector folder and ADD

Call Collector.exe

Then navigate back to the PABXSoft folder, and open the Call Collector Service folder and ADD

Call Collector Service Access.exe
CC Service Display.exe
psiCCService.exe
psiCCService.dll

Then navigate back to the PABXSoft folder, and open the Watchdog folder and ADD

Watchdog.EXE

Then navigate back to the PABXSoft folder, and open the Database Repair Tool (DBView) folder and ADD

DBView.exe
