Can't open license key?
Your license key (a file with a .LIC file extension) is an encrypted file and should not be opened. If you do open it you will simply see a string of random characters. The license file should be saved to the PABXSoft folder. (Typically at C:\Program Files\PABXSoft). If you are doing a new installation you will be asked to save the file to this location during the installation process.

Can't locate an old license?
If you are doing a back-up of data prior to re-installing PABXSoft on a new computer you need your license key (and the pabxcalls.mdb database that contains ALL your existing call and setup data). If you are looking for the license there are two places we recommend you look first. (1) The PABXSoft folder in Program Files (e.g. C:\Program Files\PABXSoft) or (2)The Root directory (e.g. C:\). All license files have a .LIC file extension, so if you can not find the license in these locations then searching your computer for a .LIC file should locate it.

Have license but don't know which version of PABXSoft to install?
If your license file is called lickey.lic then you should install Version 6 from the Downloads page > Full Version Installer.
A lickey.lic file is either Version 4, 5 or 6 and in any of these cases the final version 6 installer will work with your license.

If your license file is in your business name (e.g. ACME TOOLS.LIC) then it's a matter of checking the creation date of the license. We introduced 'Named' license in Version 6 and have continued on with the same format into Version 7 and 8. You can't tell the difference and this presents a problem. If your license is a version 6 license you should install Version 6 (see above), if it is Version 7 or 8 you should install Version 8. So, if the creation date is prior to June 2007 it is probably Version 6, after that, you should install Version 8. If in doubt, send an email with the license attached to dealer@pabxsoft.com and we will verify what version it is for you.

When registering the license it says "This database doesn't match the specified country in the license file'?
When installing the software you would have been asked to enter the Country. People make mistakes and sometimes the wrong country is selected. If this is possibly the case, re-install the software and select the correct country. You will be prompted by a question during installation to over-write the existing database...select Yes.
It has been known for errors to occur at our end. if this is a new license key and you get this error, then yes, we may have inadvertently encrypted the wrong country code into the license. Let us know and we will email you a replacement immeadiately.

Need copy of an old license?
We are happy to email you a copy of an old license if we are able to locate it. In order to locate your old license we need to know the Registered Business name that the license was created for. This name appears at the top of all PABXSoft reports, so if you have an old printed report then let us know this name. An approximate date of original installation would also assist us in locating the license.
