PABXSoft can be installed on a Windows PC/Server running XP, Vista, Server 2003, Server 2008, Windows 7
It will not operate on 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000
Windows Service
The data collection module (Call Collector) of PABXSoft can run either as an application or as a Windows Service.
The facility to run as a service is only available in PABXSoft Version 7 and higher (current version is 8).
If you are running an earlier version of PABXSoft and now require the Call Collector to run as a Windows Service then use the contact form opposite to enquire about an upgrade to Version 8.
Serial Port
Many telephone systems output their data to PABXSoft via a serial (RS232) port.
If this is the case the PC running PABXsoft Call Collector must have an available functioning serial port.
Many new computers no longer come supplied with a serial port. There are USB to Serial port adaptors available on the market but they are often very unreliable and we can not recommend their use.
For newer motherboards that do not contain an inbuilt male DB9 connector, it is recommended that a compatible PCI-Serial card be used
Hard disk space
The PABXSoft database can grow to a maximum of 1 gigabyte in size although it should never be allowed to grow this large (see archiving in FAQ). However, please ensure there is at least 700meg of available hard disk space available.
