Business Communications Manager Call Detail Recording (CDR)

Version 1.34

Introduction

The CDR Client application allows you to monitor the CDR records remotely in real time. It can be installed in any PC running Windows 95/98,
Windows NT4 or Windows 2000 It serves as an example on how to obtain records from the Business Communications Manager CDR remotely.

CDR Client Installation

The CDR Client installation program can be downloaded from client download webpage.

Before starting the Client installation, you should exit any other programs that are running in the client PC. In addition, you should disable
any ant-virus program that is running.

After the installation is completed, you may be required to reboot the PC for the changes to be effective.

Operation of CDRClient Application

The installation placed a shortcut in the Program Files in the Start Menu. The shortcut is called "CDR

Client". Start the CDRClient application and a dialog box will appear on the screen.

To connect to the server, you need to identify the name of the server in the Server edit box.

After entering the server name, click on the Set Server button to activate the changes. If the Server edit box is left empty, the local server
is used instead. If you do not know the server node name of the server, contact your system administrator.

After setting the server with the appropriate node name, press the Start button to start monitoring the CDR records. Note that the display
can only maintain a limited number of records. Old records will be replaced by new records after the buffer limit is reached.

To stop monitoring the records, click the Stop button.

You can transfer the record on the display to the Clipboard. To transfer the records, highlight them using the mouse and click the "Copy" button.
Alternatively, you can use the right mouse click and "Select All" to select all the records on the display and another right click and select "Copy"
to copy all records in the display to the clipboard.

To exit the program, press the Quit button.

Troubleshooting

The CDR Client communicates with the CDR Server according to the security model of Windows NT. If the configuration is not correct, it will
be impossible for the client application to get the records from the server. The following provides some guideline on troubleshooting if there is problem in the configuration:

1. Ensure the Windows NT workstation is registered in the domain server or the local server.

The Business Communications Manager uses the domain server to authenticate the users. Both the Business Communications Manager and
the workstations/PCs must be registered in the domain server to enable interactive login to the domain.

For peer-to-peer network, the user account must be setup in the Business Communications Manager server with the same password as the local workstations.

If the Business Communications Manager is not registered in the domain but the client PC is, the domain user account must be added to
the Business Communications Manager with the same domain password.

2. Ensure you are login into the network

The user of the client PC must login to the network in order to allow authentication from the domain server. If the server cannot verify the
user's right (e.g. if you are not login), the user is not allowed to access the server records.

3. Ensure the launch permission of the server.

Verify that the user is authorized to launch the CDR server. CDR records are sensitive in nature, you may not be authorized to access the records.
Contact your system administrator for CDR server security configuration.
