Setting
up PABXSoft with the Nortel BCM
After
installing PABXSoft Version 8, run Reports and complete the questions
asked.
You will then be asked to locate the Data folder where the BCM data
files are located.
Open
Setup>Site and click the 'BCM Data Folder' button and browse
to the BCM data file location.
(Typically this can be found at C:\Program Files\Nortel Networks\Call
Detail Recording Client)
There
is also a check box saying 'BCM File Date is Yesterday'. In most
cases this should be left checked.
(See note below - Troubleshooting)
The
Nortel BCM should create the data files after midnight. There are
4 files all starting with the word Record and with the date. PABXSoft
ignores the files with .MBX, .HG and .CCR and reads the call data
from the other file. All the call data for the previous day will
be processed shortly after the file is detected by PABXSoft Call
Collector.
This means that same day reporting and real-time functions are not
available within PABXSoft.
The
preferred BCM output format is NORSTAR format not SL1

Troubleshooting
We
are not sure why, but on some sites the BCM dates the file containing
call data incorrectly. Normally if the date of the file was yesterdays
date, then the data inside the file would be yesterdays data. This
is how it is meant to be.
However
on some sites the file containing yesterdays data is dated two days
before. As PABXsoft Call Collector is always looking for a file
date of Yesterday, it never finds it. To fix this and let Call Collector
look for a file dated two days before, shut down Call Collector
and go to Reports>Setup>Site and take off the Tick in the
Check box for 'BCM File Date is Yesterday' and Save. Then close reports
and re-start Call Collector.
